PET GROOMING CAFE

Design Concept: Creating a Social Living Room for Pets and Owners

In modern urban life, pets are not just companions—they are part of the family. Our design revolves around the core concept of "shared living between pets and humans," creating a multifunctional space that integrates a café, pet boarding, grooming, social interaction, and retail. This is not just a pet-friendly café; it is a social living room where pets and their owners can coexist, interact, and share experiences.

Spatial Planning: Designed from a Pet’s Perspective

The space is divided into four interconnected zones: the central social lounge, window-side seating area, retail display area, and service area. This layout ensures a comfortable experience for both pets and owners. The design is based on an in-depth observation of pet behavior and human-animal interactions. We analyzed the movement patterns and activity zones of pets and used color coding to indicate different levels of activity—the more vibrant the color, the higher the pet activity. This helps customers intuitively understand the flow of movement within the space. Additionally, the main pathways are carefully designed to encourage natural interactions between pets and people while preventing congestion and unnecessary conflicts.

Visual Focus: Shaping a Social Hub

The central social lounge features a circular blue ceiling installation, complemented by a matching circular seating area below. Blue is a color that pets are particularly sensitive to, while the circular design symbolizes gathering, encouraging pets and owners to congregate and socialize. The seating is designed with an elevated base, allowing pets to move freely underneath, enhancing spatial fluidity and promoting natural interactions.

Open Interaction: A Shared Experience for Humans and Pets

This is more than just a pet shop—it represents a new lifestyle. Here, owners can enjoy a cup of coffee while ordering a special meal for their pets. When pets receive grooming services, owners can watch the process through glass partitions, chatting with friends and relaxing in a welcoming environment. We aim to create a space that fosters warmth and community, bringing pet lovers together and dissolving the sense of urban isolation.

At the same time, we have considered the needs of customers who do not own pets. The window-side seating area is specifically designed for those who simply want to enjoy food and drinks in a stress-free environment. The tables and high stools are elevated, creating a subtle separation from the main pet activity area, ensuring a comfortable experience for all types of visitors.

Material Selection: Balancing Aesthetics and Functionality

Material selection focuses on durability and comfort. The original concrete walls and flooring have been preserved, reinforcing the industrial aesthetic while providing a surface that is wear-resistant, slip-proof, and easy to clean—ideal for both pets and owners. The window-side seats are made of natural oak marine board, adding warmth and a welcoming atmosphere, while the stainless steel tabletops ensure durability and easy maintenance for food service.

To maintain a clean and layered visual experience, semi-transparent perforated aluminum panels are used to conceal ceiling pipes, blending functionality with aesthetics.

Flexibility and Innovation: Modular Display Design

The retail display area incorporates modular shelving, allowing for flexible arrangements using various metal accessories. These display units can be moved, reconfigured, and combined to accommodate different product displays, ensuring an ever-evolving shopping experience. This adaptable design enhances space utilization and supports the multifunctional nature of the environment.

Creating a New Shared Lifestyle for Pets and Owners

Through this design, we aspire to create more than just a commercial space—it is a community where pet lovers can come together, share their stories, and learn about pet care. This concept fosters deeper social connections, promoting the mutual growth of people, pets, and their relationships.

In this space, the sense of urban detachment is replaced by companionship and interaction, establishing a new model of urban pet-friendly living that welcomes everyone—both two-legged and four-legged alike.
